The T-Mobile Foundation has donated $20,000 to My Sister’s House (MSH), a domestic violence victim support agency serving South Carolina’s Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties. The donation will allow MSH to provide additional support to clients and their children recovering from intimate partner violence. These funds will strengthen free survival programs including emergency shelter, court advocacy, clinical therapy, and essential needs assistance – including the provision of cell phones, calling cards, and other technology for client connectivity and safety.

“The T-Mobile Foundation’s generous donation to My Sister’s House domestic violence survival programs demonstrates a remarkable commitment to building healthy communities,” shared Tosha Connors, CEO of My Sister’s House. “Beyond their financial gift, T-Mobile’s local team has embraced our mission to break the cycle of domestic violence – hosting leadership and staff awareness trainings, creating a dedicated essential-needs collection center for MSH, and sending their staff to tour our headquarters and learn more about our services. T-Mobile is raising the bar for corporate engagement, volunteerism, and advocacy and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support.”

According to a recent report*, South Carolina’s Lowcountry region (Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties) has an estimated 12,834 cases of intimate partner violence each year. Statewide, approximately 42% of SC women and 29% of SC men will experience domestic violence at least once in their lives.

“The prevalence of domestic violence in South Carolina is alarming and unfortunately it has even touched some of our own employees, their families and friends,” said Tanisha Simmons, Team of Experts Coach at T-Mobile’s Customer Experience Center in Charleston. “My Sister’s House is such a worthy organization and thanks to the T-Mobile Foundation this grant will help them provide much-needed education and outreach services to raise awareness and bring about change in communities across the Lowcountry.

The T-Mobile Foundation is a 501(c)(3) registered charitable foundation, on a mission to amplify impact in the communities where T-Mobile employees live and work.
