**Lady Panthers Finish Seventh at 2023 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet**

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Claflin University women's indoor track & field team competed well and finished seventh at the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. The team totaled 21 points at the meet behind some terrific individual performances.

It was on the track where the Lady Panthers did their best work at the meet. Sophomore Zoe Adams continued her terrific career as she claimed first place in the women's 400m dash for the second straight season. She ran a 56.87 in the event to defend her title. She also placed fifth in the women's 200m dash with a 25.56. She was also a part of the women's 4x400m relay team that placed fifth with a 4:07.52.

With the conference championship meet completed, the Lady Panthers will turn their attentions to the national stage as they pursue qualifications for the upcoming NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet.

**Lady Tigers Have Record-Setting Meet At USC Indoor Open**

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's track & field team had a record-breaking weekend at the USC Indoor Open in their final indoor meet of the regular season.

Megan Thompson set a new school record in the women's 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:05.01.

Thompson was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team, which also set a school record with a time of 3:51.66. The team of Torianne Noad, Kassie Jordan, Thompson and Kanesha Moses finished third overall.

Moses ran 57.72 to finish seventh overall in the 400-meter run. Noad also set a new personal record with a time of 58.90.

Purity Kibet ran a personal record in the women's mile-run with a time of 5:28.69 to finish fourth, and Floma Okumu came through with a time of 5:37.60 to finish eighth. Okumu also set a new personal record in 800 meters with a time of 2:31.55 for a fourth-place finish.

Santiona Freeman ran a time of 8.75 in the women's 60-meters hurdles to finish sixth, and 26.02 in the 200 meters. Kaciann Cowan set a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.05 for 10th place, and Cailyn Johnson came in with a time of 9.37.

Yassmine Chambers set a new personal record in the weight throw of 12.05 meters (39 feet, 6 ½ inches).

In the long jump, Jada David set a new personal record with a jump of 4.80 meters (15 feet, 9 inches) to finish 19th.

Adrienne Daniels set a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.48, and Sinia Massillon also set a new personal record in the 400 meters.

The Lady Tigers open the outdoor schedule of their season on March 4 at the Savannah Relays in Savannah, Ga.

**Panthers Close Regular Season with a 75-67 Win at Johnson C. Smith**

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Claflin Panthers (19-6, 10-6 CIAA) wrapped up the 2022-23 regular season when the team took an impressive 75-67 road win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (9-16, 5-11 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The win capped a terrific regular season for the team.
The Panthers took the win behind a great overall effort. Senior guard Allen Hatchett led the way for the Panthers with 24 points in the game while junior guard Bryson Dennis added 13 points. Fellow junior guard Jaien Williams added 11 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore forward HowVante Hutcherson pulled in a career-high eight rebounds.
With the win, the Panthers finish the regular season with a 19-6 overall record, a 10-6 record in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play, and a 6-4 record in CIAA Southern Division play. The finish places the Panthers second in the division. The record also gives the Panthers a fourth place seeding in the upcoming 2023 CIAA Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament.
