Gerard Jerry Miller, November 7, 1949 - October 11, 2022

Mr. Gerard “Jerry” Miller, the son of William and Rena Miller was born on November 7, 1949 in New York City. Gerard was educated in the public schools of New York City and Georgetown, South Carolina.

Loving the south, he attended Johnson C Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina and later served in the Air Force.

Jerry was an advocate of service minded initiatives. He volunteered on voter registration, meals for the needy and served with the feed the hungry program.

Jerry enjoyed playing baseball and viewing all types of sports on television he was a big fan of New York sports and could cite scores wins and names, but not losses.

Jerry's greatest love was family. He enjoyed being with family members. Every summer was spent in Edisto Island with family members making memories and creating bonds that continued throughout his life.

Gerard and Odelia, affectionately known as “Dee” were united in marriage. It is this union that Jerry so admired. After Dee's passing, Jerry continued to live together and share his household with Edwin, Edwin Jr, Kizzy, and Quayvon in New York and at times traveling to the South.
Jerry had a strong spiritual belief that began at a young age in Randall Memorial Presbyterian Church and continued until his passing. Early in his communication with Butch and Sandra, Jerry asked Sandra did she know the “Lord is My Shepherd”. Sandra asked Jerry are you referring to the 23rd Psalm and she started to recite it, too which Jerry joined and they continued in unison. Every day afterward they recited Psalm 23 with Jerry leading the Psalms and stating “Sandy, See I remember this from my Sunday school days at Randall Memorial. During these conversation Jerry often described the picture Aunt Dorothy sent to where he stands as young, proud and strong member of the Sunday school class.

Gerard was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers: William Lawrence and Clifton (Cliff).

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted brother: Henrich V Miller nicknamed “Butch” (Sandra), Aunt: Dorothy Washington, 3 nieces: Hattie James, Catherine Wilson, and Kristen Miller, a nephew: Vincent Miller (Amy), Edwin, Kizzy, Edwin Jr., Quayvon, several cousins, friends and acquaintances.

Deacon Elijah Gaillard, Jr., December 5, 1938 - October 12, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the promotion from labor to reward for Deacon Elijah Gaillard, Jr. 83, of St. Stephen, SC who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at his residence at 2:45 PM with his loving wife and family by his bedside.

Deacon Elijah was the loving and devoted husband of 53 years to Barbara Ann Gaillard, forever loving father of Jo-Nells Cooper of St. Stephen, SC, Janice Savage of North Charleston, SC, Janie Lee Cooper of Miami, Florida, Johnny (Alene) Cooper of Miami, Florida & Bobby Cooper of Miami, Florida; two special grand-daughters reared in the home; Jeree Wilder and Shakoyia Wilder who also was his caretaker both of St. Stephen, SC; loving brother of Ms. Lillie M. Gourdine & Ms. Inetha Farris.

The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence between the hours of 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Viewing will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Divinity Mortuary from 4-7 PM ( A face mask must be worn at all times during viewing)

Home Going Service of Deacon Elijah Gaillard, Jr. will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at The House of God Keith Dominion Pentecostal Church 202 Glisson Lane, St. Stephen, SC 29479 Reverend Barbare Taylor - Pastor ( A face mask must be worn at all times during the service )

Yvonne Vernell Cunningham, November 8, 1944 - October 13, 2022

Ms. Yvonne V. Cunningham, 77, of North Charleston, SC, entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 13, 2022. The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Smith-McNeal Funeral Chapel - 2119 Dorchester Road - N. Charleston, SC.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Kenneth Burks II, Lisa Burks and Sharonne Brown (Thomas); grandchildren: Kenneth III, Trinity, Gabriel, Santino, Marijzani, Thomas III, and Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Howard D. Cunningham and parents: Herbert Lee Davis and Verbertine Davis.

She was a retired educator for the Charleston County School District.

Adolphus Leon Ravenell, January 10, 1935 - October 15, 2022

Mr. Adolphus Leon Ravenell, 87, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 15, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Geneva Ravenell; step-children: Tammie Oree, and Andrea Cooper (Ronald); siblings: Charles Ravenell and Electa Ravenell. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-children: the late Beverly Ravenell and Ivan Ravenell.

He was the Retired Owner of Leon's Paint and Body Shop.

Ms. Ida Mae Grant, 71, of Summerville, SC, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

Ms. Grant leaves to cherish her memories, her children: John W. Grant, Jr., Melissa Grant, Tiffaney Richards, Chris Grant, Pauline Grant, Victoria Grant, Lisa Grant, and Brandon Grant; grandchildren: Lakeisa Boyd, Kimani Wingate, Courey Green, Ashley Richards, and Jasmine Platts; great-grandchildren: Jania Bennett, Lamonte Boyd and Israel Boyd; siblings: Shirley Lucas, Julia Drayton, Louise Owens, Retha Moore, Mary Lucas, Linda Lucas, Wesley Lucas, Wendy Powe, and Tracey Lucas; sister and brothers-in-law: Trish Lucas, Leamon Drayton, Robert Owens, and Stacey Powe; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John Augustus and Eloise Blake Lucas; and sister, Geneva Blake.

The funeral will be held on Friday, October 21,2022 at St. Mark United Methodist Church 1241 St. Mark Bowman Rd. Saint George, SC 29477 beginning at 11:00am. All those attend service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulation.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Robert Moody, Jr. and Mrs. Lucille Moody and brother: Robert (Bobby) Moody, III. He leaves to cherish his memories his siblings: Joan Williams, Anthony H. Moody, Cynthia Allen, Deborah Moody, Sharon Moody and Renee Moody. Mr. Moody was a Chef.
