Mr. Thomas Wright. Sr.

September 8, 1944 - September 12, 2022

Mr. Thomas Wright, Sr., 78, of Awendaw, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 12, 2022. He is survived by his children: Thomas Wright, Jr. (Crystal), Ivan Bonaparte (Gabrielle) and Tiffany Stevenson; parents: John Wright, Jr. and Estelle Wright; grandchildren: DeKari, Ericka, Tomia, Aryanna, India, Aniya, Dawn, Johnny, Ivan, Jr., Solenne and Ayla; and siblings: Yvonne Thomas, Alifay Edwards and Carolyn Bennett (Jerome). His sister, Willi Mae Brown preceded him in death.

Mr. Wright is a retired mail carrier.

Edward Cato

September 2, 1952 -September 7, 2022

Mr. Edward Cato of Adams Run, SC entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

Mr. Cato was the beloved husband of Mrs. Lynette Cato, the father of; Janea Singleton, Virgil Singleton and Andre Singleton, the brother of; Nathaniel Rivers, John Cato, Jr., Harold Cato, Mammie Johnson, Gloria Bennett and Patricia Prioleau.

The Home Going Service for Mr. Cato will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2022, 11:00 AM at Grace Cathedral, 5391 Salters Hill Road, Hollywood, SC.

He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Wake Service for Mr. Cato will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Maurice Joel Waring

June 24, 1982 - September 4, 2022

Mr. Maurice Joel Waring, 40, of Clearwater, Florida, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 4, 2022. Maurice J. Waring was the son of the late Mr. Joseph Waring and Mrs. Hattie J. Waring. He was born on June 24, 1982 and had a wonderful childhood. He grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and was a member of Greater Trinity A.M.E. Church where he continued his membership through adulthood, even though he was away. He was educated in the Christian schools of Charleston, where he graduated from Ferndale Baptist Church High School, in North Charleston, South Carolina.

In High School, Maurice played basketball, received the MVP Award for his great talent and in his senior year, led the team to the championship series.

In his Charleston community, he played with the Midnight Basketball program for youth, where he became the team captain.

Upon graduating from high school, Maurice went on to continue his education at Clearwater Christian College where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2004. While playing basketball in college, he led his team to the Regional Championship. As his education continued, he received his Master of Science Degree from Bellevue University in 2011.

Maurice was always such a kind and loving young man and shared his time with the love of his life, Jessica and his sweet little princess, Meadow.

Maurice was employed with Seacoast Bank as a Vice President, Mortgage Lending Manager, in St. Petersburg, Florida.

In his spare time, he worked with the children at the YMCA in Clearwater.

His kind and loving memories are left to be shared by his loving mother, Mrs. Hattie J. Waring of Charleston, SC; his loving partner, Jessica Fleischman, his daughter, Meadow Rose-Mae Waring, both of Clearwater, FL; his aunt, Mrs. Marilyn Coaxum (John); his extended family-in-love, Mr. Frank and Mrs. Michela Fleischman; close friends and other family.

Asalee Simmons

November 5, 1933 - September 13, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Asalee Simmons of McClellanville, SC, who entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her children, Evangeline Simmons Ward (Samuel) and Pamela Simmons; stepdaughter, Joyce Broughton; grandchildren, Derrick Simmons, Shulonda Powell, Eric Simmons and Jada Simmons; great-grandchildren, Markell, Leilani, Kannon, De'Zayvionah and Xavier; siblings, Ida Bacote (Carl), Caroline Smalls, Marjorie Williams, Bernat Sanders, Frances Pinckney (Richard), William Sanders, Bobby Sanders, and Floyd Sanders (Sandra); and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Home Going Celebration Service will be held Monday, September 19, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 789 South Santee Road, McClellanville, SC. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Face masks are required. Interment will be in Old Board Cemetery.

Velma Linning

March 21, 1962 - September 12, 2022

We regret to announce the passing of Velma Linning, 60, of Moncks Corner, SC who entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 12, 2022 at her residence at 10:40 PM with her loving family by her bedside. Velma was the loving mother of Shanice Wright & Clarence D. Wright; loving daughter of John and the Late Susan Bell Stephens; loving sister of Edith Mae Smalls, Wilma Jean (Eli) Williams, Laura Ann Stephens & John Dexter Lee (DelMarie) Stephens.

The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence. Continue to keep the Wright, Stephens and Linning family in your prayers.

Damarius Sentell Williams

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Damarius Sentell Williams of Cordesville, SC, who departed this life Monday, September 12, 2022.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mrs. Birdie Mazyck Simmons (Deacon Walter Sr.), father, Mr. Augustus Williams, Jr.; children, Zyonnia Williams and Cayden Gethers; siblings, DeShanda Mazyck-Moses (Trawn), Rev. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ethel (Estelle) Nelson Glover of Charleston, SC, who departed this life on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

August 6, 1934 - September 8, 2022

Mrs. Susan Brown of North Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Mrs. Brown was the mother of; Rose Brown, Nancy Frazier, Johnny Brown, Barbara Brown Singleton, Herbert Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Timothy Brown, Henry Brown, James Brown and Harvey Brown and the sister of Sarah Corbette.

The Home Going Service for Mrs. Brown will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2022, 11:00 AM at Lovely Mountain Baptist Church, 6798 Ward Ave., N. Charleston, SC.

She will be laid to rest in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Ladson, SC. The Walk Thru will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
