Roland Danard Hall July 5, 1950 - September 1, 2022

Mr. Roland Danard Hall, 72, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Roland Denard Hall, born on July 5, 1950, he was the son of Oscar Hall and Rosalie Hall Springer. His father Oscar Hall preceded him in death. Roland received his early education in Manhattan, New York and later attended and graduated from the historic St. Emma Military Academy, located in Powhatan, Virginia. It was at St. Emma that he excelled and achieved the rank of Captain, for Company B, later becoming the Adjutant for Comandantes of Cadets. He continued his education at Charleston Southern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Roland gave of his time by serving his country in the United States Army. He also served his community, through his initiation with the Mu Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He was proud to be an Omega man for over 38 years. Roland enjoyed driving, particularly working in the transportation industry with FedEx, Hess Corporation, Meals on Wheels, to name a few. Roland truly believed in education and spent some time as a substitute teacher with the Charleston County School System. Most of all, Roland will be remembered as one to hold lively conversations with everyone.

Roland leaves to cherish fond memories, his mother: Rosalie Hall Springer; children: Shonda Hall Webber, Roland D. Hall, Jr., aka “Rakim” (Gina), and Traci Singletary; grandchildren: Latise Stenson, Tasheem Stenson, Daeshaun Stenson, Erynn Rice, Jamel White, Shalah White, Tyasia Hall, Raine Hall, Tyra Hall, Tayla Hall and and Sa’Miyah Noelle-Dominique Lewis; great grandchildren: Aubrey Allen, Jamel White, Jr., Kapri Rice, Gioanna White, Shilow White, Ace Hall, Royal Hall and Winter Hall: Siblings: Jacqueline Hall Odom, Andre Hall and Oscar Hall; god mother: Hermene Nelson, special cousin ‘Persephone Council’, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives, and friends.

Virginia Irene James April 27, 1937 - August 27, 2022

Mrs. Virginia Irene James, 85 of North Charleston, SC., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Lowcountry Community Hospice House, Summerville, SC. Mrs. James is the widow of Mr. Alex Zander James.

Virginia Irene James daughter of the late Wilbert & Lillian Ford was born on April 27, 1937, in Whiteville, NC.

Virginia attended the Columbus County School System, she graduated from Central High School, in Whiteville, NC

Virginia was united in holy matrimony to Alex on December 2, 1955, they shared 65 Loving years together. From this union they were Blessed with 3 children Donald, Ramona, and Kimmi. Their daughter Ramona preceded them in death.

Virginia was Executive Director of Environmental Services for over 40 years, She worked at Trident Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital & MUSC. She retired from Trident Regional Medical Center, & MUSC.

Virginia was baptized at Marlboro Missionary Baptist Church in Killeen, TX where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior. She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her health failed

Virginia leaves to cherish many loving memories her son Donald Bacolod City, Philippines, her daughter Kimmi of the home, 2 grandsons Nakia (Sonya) Moncks Corner, SC, Sean (Tiana) Altamonte Springs, Fl, 9 great grands Miracle, Earl, Carrington, Anson, Messyah, Merci, Asher, Ahmad, Karter 1 great great grand Khaleesi, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & Friends.

Carrie Whack July 11, 1933 - August 31, 2022

Carrie Lee Brown Whack was born in 1933 on July 11th in Clarendon County, SC. She was the youngest of eight born to the late Peter McKiever and Annie Brown. At a young age she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at St. John Baptist Church in Greeleyville, SC and was educated in the Williamsburg Public school system. On December 22, 1947, she joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Steve Jake Whack. Their union was blessed with fourteen children (9 girls and 5 boys). She moved to North Charleston with her husband and family and became a devout member of Ashley Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Promiseland Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member on the Missionary Board, choir, and later served as the church mother until her time of departure. Carrie loved her family, knew no stranger, and loved to sing and witness for the Lord. She instilled her values of faith and the word of God in every conversation that she engaged in. On the evening of Wednesday, August 31st, surrounded by her family and loved ones, the Lord called her home.

She is survived by fourteen children: Virgie Williams, Donna Fields, Jake (Syphio) Whack, Blease (Lorraine) Whack, Winnie Whack, Debra Johnson, Lavenia (Anthony) Mitchell, Shela (Andrea) Wilson, Nathaniel Whack, Sybil Whack-Simmons, Stephen (Jeanette) Whack, Tonya Whack, Wanda (John) Miller, and Jerome (Melissa) Whack, 47 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, one surviving sister, Annie Louise “Snook” Davis, a host of nieces and nephew, and one God-child, Erica Bryant Carter.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Steve Jake Whack, three sons-in-laws: Johnny Fields, Richard Johnson, and Ervin Williams; one grandson, Kendrick Whack; and one great-grandson, Tyrell Miles.

George Ray Jordan February 7, 1941 - August 30, 2022

The relatives and friends of Mr. George Ray Jordan (Georgia Marie Felder) are invited to attend his funeral services 11:00 AM Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church, 620 Rutledge Ave. Viewing for Mr. Jordan will be 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Jordan is the beloved father of: Karen Winbush (James), Melissa Jordan, and George Ray Jordan, Jr. (Shanera); grandfather of Lakecia Jacques, Raymond Jordan, Tiffany Smith, Dionne Jacques, Rashard Johnson, and Ja'Nice Jordan; great-grandfather of Israel Jacques, Kairo Wigfall, and Nachya Brown; brother of John Earl Jordan (Linda). Alethia Hilliard February 2, 1936 -September 3, 2022

Ms. Alethia Hilliard, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hilliard, Sr. and Victoria Brown Hilliard; her siblings: Bennie Hilliard and Ernestine Rivers; and in-laws: Robert Colleton and Brenda Hilliard.

She is survived by her siblings: Ms. Mary Colleton, Ms. Carrie Hilliard, Mrs. Ella Glover (Howard), Mr. John Hilliard, Jr., Mr. Nathaniel Hilliard (Barbara), Mr. Franklin Hilliard (Theresa); brother-in-law: Mr. Willie Rivers; and a host of neices and nephews.

Ms. Hilliard was 86 years old and she was retired.

Walk-Through Viewing for Ms. Hilliard will be held Friday, Septermber 9, 2022 at the Rev. Bryan McNeal, Sr. Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM untill 6:00 PM.

Celebration of Life Service will be 11: 00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Greater Zion AME Church 4174 Highway 17 N., Awendaw, SC 29429.

Evelyn Louise McCray October 15, 1945 - September 2, 2022

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand".

On September 02, 2022; God in His infinite wisdom, called His daughter Ms.. Evelyn Louise Bacon, 76, of Wando South Carolina from labor to reward.

Home Going service for Ms. Bacon will be on Friday September 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

There will be a visitation on Thursday September 8, 2022 at Suburban Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 PM.

The most precious memories of Evelyn will resound in the life of her beloved son; Tom McCray III and Ron S. McCray. Ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two uncles; Peter Vanderhorst and Henry Vanderhorst. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Barry C Green April 10, 1957 - August 25, 2022

Mr. Barry C. Green, 65, resident of North Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 25, 2022, the beloved husband of, Mrs. Barbara Ann Green, those of his children; Karen Green, Barry C. Green, Jr., and Dominque Green, his siblings; Barbara Green, William Myers, Geraldine Deas, and Curtis Green (Linda), other relatives and friends.

The relatives and friends of Mr. Barry C. Green are invited to attend his walk through on Friday, September 9, 2022, in North Area Funeral Home Chapel, 4784 Gaynor Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405, from 6:00PM-8:00PM. His Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00AM, in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Green will be laid to rest in Hillsboro Brown Cemetery, Maryville-Asheville, SC.
