Autopsy shows Concord Police officer shot Combs multiple times in the chest and torso

Attorneys for Virginia Tayara, whose son Brandon Combs was shot and killed by former Concord Police Department (CPD) officer Timothy Larson on February 13, today announced that a Medical Examiner Investigation has declared Combs death a homicide according to an investigation by the Carrabas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Tayara is represented by Harry Daniels (The Law Offices of Harry Daniels), Chimeaka White (The White Law Firm) and Chance Lynch (Lynch Law).

In addition to the medical examiner’s investigation, attorneys are also releasing an autopsy report from the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiners’ Office detailing the brutality Combs received at Larson’s hands. According to the reports, Combs died after being shot five times by Larson, including three shots to the chest, following a brief foot chase on February 13. Combs was unarmed at the time and posed no physical threat.

Video of the incident, which the Concord Police Department still refuses to release publicly, shows Larson firing five rounds at Combs, pausing briefly to report that shots had been fired at the scene, then shooting combs again. While a CPD news release following the shooting claimed a “physical altercation” between Larson and Combs, the video shows that no physical altercation took place.

“This report further confirms what we’ve been saying,” said Daniels, “Larson wasn’t interested in protecting himself, stopping a crime or even detaining Mr. Combs. Larson wanted to kill him and he shot him five times to make sure he got the job done.”

Larson was fired by the CPD in connection to the shooting as well as lying to North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation investigators. He still has not been charged with killing Combs.

“It’s been almost six months since Larson shot and killed Brandon Combs,” said White. “But even though the video was immediately available, this autopsy report was finalized in May and Larson was fired for lying to investigators, he still hasn’t been charged with a crime. Now we know it was a homicide. How long does the District Attorney need before she takes action?”

“Timothy Larson wasn’t satisfied with just shooting Brandon Combs,” said Lynch. “He wasn’t satisfied until he’d shot him five times. He wasn’t satisfied until he killed him… over a car.”
