Minority Business Opportunities: North Charleston, Airport, and SC Port Minority Business Opportunities: North Charleston, Airport, and SC Port

City of North Charleston:

The only City in the Charleston region where the majority of Council Members are African-American. We hold power. How are we using it?

When this happened with the Charleston County School District they implemented a task force to evaluate and provide recommendations in its spending with Black firms. The results have been a disparity study, a significant direct bid contraction for contraction management, and an increase in overall spending. The City of North Charleston could implement a similar program to improve MBE performance of its departments. Summey should be very supportive given the support Black voters have given him over the years.

Airport

2 Billion Dollars in Construction is expected over the next few years with the expansion of airport terminals. David Morrow is a veteran at the Airport and has worked to improve minority business access.
